The 2013 InterMat JJ Classic takes place on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at the UCR Regional Sports Center in Rochester, Minn., with weigh-ins on the previous day (Saturday). This premier preseason high school wrestling event is open to wrestlers in grades 7 through 12. Register.

State champ, three-time placer registers

Nov. 6, 2013: Anthony Luft (Worthington, Minn.), a state champion and three-time state placewinner, has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 120 pounds. Luft compiled a 38-1 record last season as a junior en route to capturing a state title at 120 pounds. He was a state fifth-place finisher as a sophomore at 106 pounds, and a state sixth-place finisher as a freshman at 103 pounds.

Two-time state champ Olson registers

Nov. 1, 2013: Two-time state champion Lincoln Olson (Davison, Mich.) has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 126 pounds. Olson has compiled a record of 101-2 over the first two years of his school wrestling career. He has been an All-American in freestyle at the Cadet, FILA Cadet, and Junior levels. This fall he won a title at the Grappler Fall Classic at 125 pounds. In 2011, Olson represented Team USA at the FILA Cadet World Championships. He is a seven-time national champion. Olson attends Davison (Mich.) High School, the same high school that produced NCAA Division I wrestling champions Brent Metcalf, Jon Reader, and Paul Donahoe.

Oct. 31, 2013: Each of the 30 finalists at the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic will receive limited edition InterMat JJ Classic fight shorts from Cradle Gear.

Cadet National double finalist registers

Oct. 22, 2013: Cadet National double finalist Austin Gomez (Glenbard North, Ill.) has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 106 pounds. In Fargo, Gomez claimed a title in the Cadet Greco-Roman competition and finished runner-up in the Cadet freestyle competition at 94 pounds. He won a FILA Cadet freestyle title at 42 kilos this past spring, which earned him a spot on the Cadet World Team that competed in Cadet World Championships in Serbia this past August.

Hall, one of nation's top seniors, registers

Oct. 20, 2013: Zac Hall (St. Johns, Mich.), one of the nation's top senior wrestlers, has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 138 pounds. Hall won a title at last year's InterMat JJ Classic at 126 pounds.

Hall is a three-time state champion with a career record of 146-2. His most recent state championship came at 125 pounds after a 48-0 season. Hall is a two-time Junior freestyle All-American, FILA Cadet freestyle runner-up, and two-time Cadet freestyle All-American. He recently became the first wrestler to win three titles at the Grappler Fall Classic in Michigan.

Hall has committed to wrestle at the University of Michigan.

Two-time Fargo All-American registers

Michael Cullen
Oct. 18, 2013: Two-time Fargo freestyle All-American Michael Cullen (Cary Grove, Ill.) has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 113 pounds. Cullen placed third in the Junior National freestyle competition this past summer at 113 pounds, and was fifth the previous summer in the Cadet National freestyle competition at the same weight class. He was undefeated at this year's Junior National Duals in freestyle.

At the high school level Cullen is a two-time state placewinner, finishing fourth and sixth. He has a career record of 89-7.

Two-time state champ Rodriguez enters

Oct. 14, 2013: Two-time state champion Dante' Rodriguez (Kearney, Neb.) has entered the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 126 pounds.

Over the past two seasons Rodriguez has compiled a high school record of 83-3, with his state championships coming at 120 pounds in 2013 and 106 pounds in 2012. He was a state runner-up in 2011.

This past summer Rodriguez earned All-American honors in the Junior National Greco-Roman competition at 126 pounds. He is also two-time InterMat JJ Classic finalist, finishing runner-up last year and winning a title in 2011.

Multiple-time national champ registers

Oct. 10, 2013: Multiple-time national champion Mitchell McKee (St. Michael-Albertville, Minn.), one of the nation's top sophomore wrestlers, has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 113 pounds.

McKee has been a Cadet National Greco-Roman champion in each of the last two summers. This year he was a Cadet National freestyle runner-up and third-place finisher in the Cadet National folkstyle competition. He placed third in the FILA Cadet National Greco-Roman competition.

McKee is a two-time state placewinner at the high school level, finishing third this past season as a freshman at 106 pounds and runner-up as an eighth-grader. He has compiled a record of 90-7 over the past two seasons.

He was a runner-up at the InterMat JJ Classic in 2012 at 106 pounds.

Returning JJ Classic champ registers

Oct. 10, 2013: Returning InterMat JJ Classic champion Drew West (Highland, Iowa) has registered for this year's InterMat JJ Classic at 106 pounds.

West went 5-0 at the 2012 InterMat JJ Classic en route to winning the title at 100 pounds. He had three pins and two decisions. In the semifinals he pinned Austin Anderly (LeSueur-Henderson, Minn.), who would go on to win a state title, before pinning Jack Wagner (Bettendorf, Iowa) in the finals. West was a state champion this year in all three styles at 106 pounds. He earned All-American honors this year in the Cadet National Greco-Roman competition at 106 pounds.

His twin brother Bryce West, also a state champion this year in all three styles, registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 113 pounds.

Nation's No. 21 junior Early registers

Oct. 9, 2013: Larry Early (OPRF, Ill.), a Cadet National champion in folkstyle and Greco-Roman, has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 145 pounds.

Early came up just short of winning a Cadet National Triple Crown this year, finishing third in the Cadet National freestyle competition after winning the first two legs of the Triple Crown. Early was a FILA Cadet double All-American this year, finishing runner-up in Greco-Roman and fourth in freestyle.

At the high school level, Early was a state runner-up this past season as sophomore, compiling a mark of 47-1. He was a state third-place finisher the previous season as a freshman.

Early is ranked 21st overall among all high school junior wrestlers in the United States by InterMat.

Undefeated state champ registers

Oct. 8, 2013: Michigan state champion Kanen Storr (Leslie, Mich.) has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 113 pounds. Storr compiled a perfect record of 58-0 this past season as a freshman en route to winning a state championship in Division 3 at 103 pounds. Storr earned All-American honors this year in the Cadet National folkstyle and Greco-Roman competitions. He placed third in the FILA Cadet National Greco-Roman competition. Storr also won a title this year at the Ohio Tournament of Champions.

Nation's No. 50 senior Klee registers

Oct. 5, 2013: One of California's most accomplished wrestlers, PJ Klee (Cardinal Newman, Calif.), has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 132 pounds.

Klee spent the first two and half years of his high school career at Blair Academy in New Jersey, the preeminent high school wrestling program in the country, before moving back to his home state of California midway through his junior year. He is a two-time NHSCA Nationals champion, winning titles as a freshman and sophomore. This past spring he finished fourth in the NHSCA Junior Nationals. He has twice been runner-up at the Beast of the East and also a runner-up at the POWERade. He has placed at several other national events, including the Walsh Ironman, FILA Cadet Nationals, and Cadet Nationals.

Klee is ranked as the nation's No. 50 senior wrestler. In September Klee gave a verbal commitment to wrestle at Army for Joe Heskett.

PJ's brother Michael Klee, a junior, has also registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 132 pounds. Michael posted a 45-7 record last season. He has been a Cadet freestyle state runner-up.

State champion Anderly registers

Oct. 4, 2013: State champion Austin Anderly (LeSueur-Henderson, Minn.) has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 113 pounds. Anderly posted a 38-4 record last season as a sophomore en route to winning his state title at 106 pounds. He was a Northern Plains Greco-Roman champion this year, and finished third in the Northern Plains freestyle competition. At last year's InterMat JJ Classic, Anderly earned the award for the most falls in the least amount of time, and finished third in the event at 100 pounds.

Two-time JJ Classic finalist returns

Fredy Stroker


Oct. 1, 2013: Fredy Stroker (Bettendorf, Iowa) is back in the InterMat JJ Classic. The rising junior entered this year's event at 132 pounds. Stroker has excelled at the InterMat JJ Classic the past two years, winning a title in 2011 and finishing runner-up last year.

This past season Stroker won a state championship in Iowa's 3A division at 126 pounds and was named Outstanding Wrestler of the event. He finished the season with a 48-1 record, with his lone loss during the season coming to Jered Cortez (Glenbard North, Ill.), 5-2, in the finals of the Cheesehead. The previous year Stroker was a state runner-up as a freshman at 113 pounds. He has compiled a high school career record of 92-3 heading into his junior season.

Stroker has earned All-American honors three times in Fargo at the Cadet & Junior Nationals. This past summer Stroker finished fourth in the Junior National freestyle competition at 132 pounds. He was a Cadet freestyle All-American in 2012 and a Cadet Greco-Roman All-American in 2011. Stroker claimed a Cadet National folkstyle title in 2012. He also won a gold medal at the Cadet Pan American Wrestling Championships in 2012.

Cadet National finalist Gunther registers

Sept. 30, 2013: Joey Gunther (Libertyville, Ill.), a Cadet National finalist this year in folkstyle and Greco-Roman, has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 152 pounds. Gunther was also a Cadet National Greco-Roman finalist in 2012. He was a state champion this year in both freestyle and Greco-Roman. Gunther was a member of Team Illinois' Cadet Dual team that won national titles this year in both freestyle and Greco-Roman.

Three-time state finalist registers

Ben Thornton


Sept. 27, 2013: Three-time state finalist Ben Thornton (La Crosse Central, Wis.) has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 120 pounds. Thornton was a state champion in 2012, and finished as a state runner-up in 2011 and 2013. He is also a three-time Bi-State champion, winning titles at 103, 106, and 113 pounds. Thornton has a career record of 146-2.

Reno Worlds runner-up Onoo registers

Sept. 25, 2013: Kaz Onoo (Mason City, Iowa), a state runner-up and Junior National All-American, has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 126 pounds. Onoo was a runner-up at Reno Worlds in April. He is a two-time InterMat JJ Classic placewinner, finishing third last year and fourth in 2011.

Cadet folkstyle champ Jones registers

Sept. 20, 2013: Cadet National folkstyle champion Brent Jones (Shakopee, Minn.) has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 100 pounds. Jones was a Cadet All-American in all three styles of wrestling this year. In addition to his Cadet National folkstyle title, Jones finished third in both Greco-Roman and freestyle in Fargo. He was a FILA Cadet double All-American and Northern Plains double champion this year as well.

Nationally ranked Steveson registers

Sept. 18, 2013: Nationally ranked junior wrestler Bobby Steveson (Apple Valley, Minn.) has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 182 pounds. Steveson won the InterMat JJ Classic title last year at 170 pounds.

Steveson, who recently moved from Indiana to Minnesota, was an undefeated state champion this past season at 170 pounds wrestling for Merrillville (Ind.). His victory in the state finals came over previously-unbeaten Riley Lefever (Carroll-Fort Wayne). Steveson has compiled a record of 78-2 over the first two seasons of his high school wrestling career.

This past spring Steveson won a Junior National folkstyle title at 182 pounds. He was a runner-up in the FILA Cadet National freestyle competition in May. In August, Steveson represented the United States at the FILA Cadet Pan American Championships in Medellin, Colombia, and claimed a gold medal in both Greco-Roman and freestyle.

Bobby's younger brother Gable, an eighth-grader, has also registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 182 pounds. Gable Steveson has won six straight USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals titles.

State champ Sjomeling registers

Sept. 17, 2013: State champion Tucker Sjomeling (Delano, Minn.) has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 106 pounds.

This past season Sjomeling claimed the first state wrestling title in his school's history, and did so as an eighth-grader at 106 pounds. He finished third in this year's Cadet National folkstyle competition at 100 pounds.

Undefeated Alber registers at 126

Sept. 15, 2013: Three-time undefeated state champion Josh Alber (Dakota, Ill.) has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 126 pounds. Alber was an InterMat JJ Classic champion in 2011 and 2012.

Alber has compiled a perfect record of 134-0 in his high school wrestling career. He has the longest winning streak in Illinois high school wrestling history.

Alber was a Super 32 Challenge runner-up last year at 120 pounds. He recently claimed a title at the 2013 IndianaMat Hoosier Preseason Open.

Alber has given a verbal commitment to wrestle at the University of Northern Iowa for Doug Schwab.

Three-time state champ Thorn enters

Sept. 13, 2013: Three-time state champion Tommy Thorn (St. Michael-Albertville, Minn.), one of the nation's top senior wrestlers, has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 126 pounds.

Thorn has compiled a career record of 149-6 as a high school wrestler. His state championships have come at 103, 113, and 120 pounds. Thorn has been a Junior National freestyle champion (2012), FILA Cadet National freestyle champion twice (2011 & 2012), Cadet National freestyle champion (2011), and Cadet National folkstyle champion (2011).

Thorn has verbally committed to wrestle at the University of Minnesota.

Tommy Thorn's father John was an All-American wrestler at Iowa State University in 1983, finishing fourth at 118 pounds. His oldest brother Mike was a two-time All-American and 2010 Big Ten champion for the University of Minnesota. His older brother David is currently on the University of Minnesota wrestling team and is a returning All-American at 125 pounds.

Cadet All-American Lee registers

Sept. 9, 2013: Robert Lee (Kaukauna, Wis.), a two-time state finalist and 2012 state champion, has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 126 pounds. Last year Lee became the youngest wrestler ever to win a Wisconsin state championship in wrestling.

This past spring Lee was a runner-up in the Cadet National folkstyle competition. He also claimed a Brute Nationals title and was named Outstanding Wrestler in the event. This summer in Fargo Lee earned All-American honors in the Cadet National freestyle competition with a fifth-place finish at 132 pounds. He has placed in the top four at several regional and national high school wrestling events, including the Cheesehead, Rumble on the Red, InterMat JJ Classic, Grappler Fall Classic, and Hawkeye Wrestling Club Challenge.

Robert's brother Ty Lee, a Junior National Greco-Roman All-American, registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 100 pounds.

Two-time state finalist Voss registers

Sept. 8, 2013: Two-time state finalist Mark Voss (St. Michael-Albertville, Minn.) has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 138 pounds. Voss was an InterMat JJ Classic runner-up in 2012 at 132 pounds.

This past spring Voss earned All-American honors in the Junior National folkstyle competition at 132 pounds, placing sixth. In addition, he was a fourth-place finisher in the FILA Cadet National freestyle competition at 58 kilo. At that event he recorded a victory over two-time California state champion and nationally ranked Zahid Valencia (St. John Bosco, Calif). Voss was also a Northern Plains freestyle champion this year.

Cadet Triple Crown winner Hall enters

Sept. 5, 2013: Mark Hall (Apple Valley, Minn.), the nation's top-ranked 152-pounder this past season, has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic. He was an InterMat JJ Classic champion in 2011 and 2012.

Hall became a Cadet National Triple Crown winner this year by winning national titles in folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco-Roman. He is a three-time state champion heading into his sophomore season at Apple Valley High School. Over the past three seasons Hall has compiled a record of 136-4. Last fall he won tournament titles at the Grappler Fall Classic, Super 32 Challenge, NUWAY Southwest Kickoff Classic, and InterMat JJ Classic. He is a three-time Minnesota Christmas Tournament champion. Hall is currently ranked No. 2 among all sophomore wrestlers in the U.S.

Cadet folkstyle champ James registers

Sept. 3, 2013: Carver James (Dakota, Ill.), a Cadet National folkstyle champion and state champion, has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 145 pounds. James compiled a 47-3 record last season as a sophomore en route to winning a Class 1A state championship in Illinois at 138 pounds. He was a state third-place finisher as a freshman in 2012. His Cadet National folkstyle title came at 145 pounds this past spring. James was also an InterMat JJ Classic runner-up in 2012 at 138 pounds.

Two-time state champ Woiwor registers

Sept. 1, 2013: Two-time state champion Maolu Woiwer (Apple Valley, Minn.) has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 132 pounds. Woiwor won a state championship at 106 pounds as a freshman and 113 pounds as a sophomore. He finished this past season with a 44-5 record. Woiwor was dominant at the 2013 state tournament, pinning his first three opponents before winning 13-0 in the state championship match. He has placed multiple times at the Minnesota Christmas Tournament, Cheesehead, and InterMat JJ Classic.

JJ Classic champion Racer registers

Aug. 29, 2013: Returning InterMat JJ Classic champion Dayton Racer (Apple Valley, Minn.) has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 160 pounds. He is the nation's 37th-ranked junior.

Racer is a two-time state finalist, winning a state championship this past season as a sophomore at 145 pounds. He finished the season with a 32-1 record. His combined record over the past two seasons is 72-6. In 2012, Racer was a Cadet National folkstyle champion and earned All-Americans honors in Greco-Roman. In addition to winning an InterMat JJ Classic title last fall, Racer also won a Preseason Nationals title. This past spring he finished third in the Junior National folkstyle competition and was a Northern Plains runner-up in freestyle. He is also a two-time Minnesota Christmas Tournament finalist, winning a title as a freshman.


Returning OW Rose returning to JJ Classic

Aug. 27, 2013: Last year's InterMat JJ Classic Outstanding Wrestler is back.

Nathan Rose (Sibley East, Minn.), one of the nation's top senior wrestlers, has registered for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic at 195 pounds. Rose won the InterMat JJ Classic title last year at 195 pounds and earned OW honors after defeating Lance Benick (Totino-Grace, Minn.) in the finals. Benick is the nation's No. 1 junior.

Rose has won Minnesota state championships (Class A) in each of the past two seasons, going a perfect 90-0 combined over those two seasons. He is also a two-time NHSA Nationals champion and Preseason Nationals champion. Rose has committed to the University of Minnesota.

State champion Sanders registers

Aug. 26, 2013: Louie Sanders (LCWM, Minn.) becomes the first state champion to register for the 2013 InterMat JJ Classic. He will compete at 126 pounds. Sanders compiled a record of 36-4 this past season en routing to winning a Minnesota state title in Class A at 120 pounds. He became a Minnesota/USA Wrestling Triple Crown winner this past spring by capturing state championships in all three styles. Sanders is also a Cadet National folkstyle All-American and Northern Plains Greco-Roman champion.
