MONDAY
SESSION I NOTES

Maryland's Woody ansy
In warming up for her first round match, Maryland's Nicole Woody was full of energy -- and pent up aggression. While in the warm-up area, she used one sports writer's arm as a punching bag. Eager to get on the mat, Woody said "I'm not used to not going first. They skipped my weight." Woody, a member of the Themat.com/Asics Girls All-America Team, is looking for her fourth Women's Junior Freestyle championship. She opened up with a 6-0, 6-0 first round victory over Florida's Janexis Rodriguez.

Hutchison starts off strong
Alaska's Michaela Hutchison kicked off her tournament with a quick fall and a 7-0, 7-0 victory to quickly run to 2-0. Hutchison is looking to repeat her title last year. In 2006, her and older brother Eli won titles last year. It was the first time in USA Wrestling history that a brother-sister combo won Junior National titles.

California's Padilla going for third title
California's Tatiana Padilla made the U.S. World Team Trials finals just over a month ago in Las Vegas. Now the rising senior sets her sights on a third Junior National championship. After taking the runner-up spot at the Trials, Padilla should have little trouble at 132 pounds here in Fargo.

One match to go
In the 139 pound bracket, Virginia's Schuyler Brown and California's Marina Picollotti are out to a quick 2-0 and are the only two left unbeaten in the bracket. The two meet next and the winner will earn a berth in the finals.
