Washington and Lee University Wrestling - Asst. Coach (full time)
Washington and Lee University invites applications for the position of Assistant Men’s Wrestling Coach. Founded in 1749, Washington and Lee is a highly selective, residential co-educational liberal arts university of 1790 students located in the beautiful Valley of Virginia. The University is a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III, sponsoring 24 varsity sports. The Wrestling team competes in the Centennial Conference.
This is a full-time, 11-month position working in all phases of the wrestling program. The successful candidate will also teach in our required physical education program. Candidates must be committed to a philosophy that emphasizes academic priorities for student-athletes as well as the importance of good citizenship on and off the wrestling mat.
A bachelor’s degree and collegiate playing experience is required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to player skill development, competitive motivation and tournament readiness, player performance reviews and goal setting, planning and directing of daily practice, conditioning administration and training, identification and recruitment of athletically and academically qualified student-athletes, managing team travel, organizing program fundraising and community service activities and maintaining parent and alumnae communication.
The successful candidate will maintain a philosophy that complements the Head Coach and the overall vision for each program. He will need to maintain continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, ODAC, Centennial, team and university rules and regulations and complies with the same.
Starting salary is $22,990.00 which includes optional supplemented housing costs for an annual appointment. Minorities are strongly encouraged to submit an application.
